Andy & Janet Briggs, live in the north of England, in Yorkshire, on the
edge of the beautiful Dales countryside. When not tending to the K9 family, Andy runs his own landscape design and
construction business, along with son Chris. Janet helps out with the office
side of things.
Some of our dogs live in luxury kennels attached to the barn and the office, which is the 'central hub' of both the landscape business and my computing and dog writing activities, whilst at least three of them sleep in the house at night. It is most comforting to know that any potential thief would have to by-pass our guardians first.
All the dogs have separate large kennels and spacious fenced runs, as well as a large fenced paddock, complete with their own earth mound (mini Himalayan mountain) to play on. When we are at home, the dogs play in the paddock, or just wander around the yard, and, after a short play session, they are more than content to lay around snoozing in the sunshine; always with the second pair of eyes partially open for wolves or snow leopards! Yes, these ARE prevalent up here in Yorkshire, but not on Sobarnaland property!!!!!! There are a further seven acres of fields to walk and explore.
We tend to get a lot of rain in the UK, which turns the paddock into a sea of mud in the winter, so this would give them a nice clean dry area to lay on. However, I have now found the ideal product, at a very reasonable price. We laid a 60 square metre roll in less than half an hour, and the results are instant. I was so impressed with this material that I am now marketing it through my landscape business. It can be supplied only in lightweight rolls for the DIY enthusiast, or we will install on site for you. Please go to our landscape website for more details and a free telephone quote.
Generally, the dogs are all free to mix, including both dogs and bitches, from 7am until the late hours. I spend most evenings down in the office catching up on paperwork, on the phone or on the computer. All around my feet the dogs are laid out sleeping. They are great company, and because of these circumstances the dogs actually spend more time with me, than if they "full timed" up in the house.
Only at night when I leave are they separated into their individual kennels with elevated sleeping benches, (except Leah, Hannah and Tanya who have free access throughout, and usually sleep in the office.) to give them some time on their own to sleep. They are also separated when the bitches are on heat, which, in this breed, is only once per year.
